This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 soooo, there's a lot to unpack here。 My reading experience with this book was kinda weird。 I really enjoyed the beginning, but in the middle around the 300 page mark, I kinda got into a reading slump。 The Manon chapters were really doing it for me, but not all of them。 I thought Rowan was a bit of an asshole and Dorian was acting like a spoiled child when Chaol tried to help。 I read the last 200 pages in 1 sitting and i thought that the the attack on the demi-Fae was heartbreaking but also so we soooo, there's a lot to unpack here。 My reading experience with this book was kinda weird。 I really enjoyed the beginning, but in the middle around the 300 page mark, I kinda got into a reading slump。 The Manon chapters were really doing it for me, but not all of them。 I thought Rowan was a bit of an asshole and Dorian was acting like a spoiled child when Chaol tried to help。 I read the last 200 pages in 1 sitting and i thought that the the attack on the demi-Fae was heartbreaking but also so well written, i loved it。 But by far the most heart breaking part of the whole book for me was when Sorscha died。 I almost screamed, LITTERALY。 For some weird reason i got a resemblence to Harry's scream in Harry Potter and Half Blood prince, idk Dorian's scream really reminded me of that。 I was thinking of stopping the series for now and reading something else, but now i need to know how this story ends 。。。more

This further developed the plot and this is where you see a bit of character development towards Celaena。

These books are all so long, it’s taking me forever to read them, but I love them! I can’t believe I waited this long to read this series。 I might be reading it for the next 2 years at this point, but at least it’s enjoyable reading。 I love seeing Aelin come into her own in this book!

Between 4-5 stars on this one for me。 I was tempted to give it 5 because this book make me cry like ten times but…。I feel like I’m reading Harry Potter for the first time again because I have that magical feeling of not being able to put a book down and being so immersed。 The world is incredible, the characters are so rich。 There are also really well-written themes of war, family, imperialism, sacrifice, salvation, and redemption。 But reading this series as an adult it’s impossible to ignore the Between 4-5 stars on this one for me。 I was tempted to give it 5 because this book make me cry like ten times but…。I feel like I’m reading Harry Potter for the first time again because I have that magical feeling of not being able to put a book down and being so immersed。 The world is incredible, the characters are so rich。 There are also really well-written themes of war, family, imperialism, sacrifice, salvation, and redemption。 But reading this series as an adult it’s impossible to ignore the problems (a lot of which are shared by Harry Potter) - most notably, that women of color seem to be written for the express purpose of getting the main characters to do something。 SJM has written a good amount of diversity into the side characters but not into the main cast。 It’s more obvious in this book than it was in the first three。 。。。more

3。25 out of 5 stars RTC 。。。 maybe。 To be honest, I'm sooooo far behind on writing reviews this year。 It's depressing。 But I enjoyed this one a little more than the first two。 So there's that。 3。25 out of 5 stars RTC 。。。 maybe。 To be honest, I'm sooooo far behind on writing reviews this year。 It's depressing。 But I enjoyed this one a little more than the first two。 So there's that。 。。。more

I liked how this book was structured, with us jumping from place to place each chapter。 As much as I loved most of the story and how much the universe has expanded, I’m giving it a 4 because I wasn’t that much into one of the plots。

Thanks to Chaol’s wish to keep Aelin safe, the King sends her to Wendlyn, the last haven of the fae, as an assassin。 Upon arriving, Aelin is summoned by Maeve, the last remaining Fae queen (and her grandmother)。 Maeve agrees to answer her questions about the Wyrd keys if Aelin will train with the (handsome, tattooed) Fae Prince Rowan and show Maeve her powers。 Together, they face a new threat from another world。 While Aelin trains, Chaol forms alliances with the rebels and an unexpected ally and Thanks to Chaol’s wish to keep Aelin safe, the King sends her to Wendlyn, the last haven of the fae, as an assassin。 Upon arriving, Aelin is summoned by Maeve, the last remaining Fae queen (and her grandmother)。 Maeve agrees to answer her questions about the Wyrd keys if Aelin will train with the (handsome, tattooed) Fae Prince Rowan and show Maeve her powers。 Together, they face a new threat from another world。 While Aelin trains, Chaol forms alliances with the rebels and an unexpected ally and Dorian strikes up a new romance while trying to keep his own magic hidden。 A new POV is introduced in Manon Blackbeak, a Witch whose clan is allied with Adarlan。As much as I love this series, I had to admit this book is light on the action and heavy on the build-up for the second half of the series without much forward movement。 That's not to say I didn't enjoy it。 I loved the building of Aelin and Rowan's relationship, learning a lot more about her past and powers, and meeting new characters。 The breakout star of this book is definitely Manon and I looked forward to her chapters the most。 I could have done with less of what wat happening in Adarlan with Chaol and Dorian but it did set up the events for Queen of Shadows。 。。。more

Damn, it feels like it took me ages to finish this book。 It's definitely the one that's taken me the longest to finish this year (over a month)。Part of it is because I was moving to another home, but I think it's mostly because I thought the third book in the series was painfully long。 If I'm honest, I didn't really enjoy the first 2/3 of the story。 The chapters felt long, the multiple POV's felt very disconnected and the story dragged on with no real development。 The last third of the book was Damn, it feels like it took me ages to finish this book。 It's definitely the one that's taken me the longest to finish this year (over a month)。Part of it is because I was moving to another home, but I think it's mostly because I thought the third book in the series was painfully long。 If I'm honest, I didn't really enjoy the first 2/3 of the story。 The chapters felt long, the multiple POV's felt very disconnected and the story dragged on with no real development。 The last third of the book was by far the strongest, and quite frankly saved the book (and probably my interest in the series)。 I'm glad Rowan is finally introduced in this one (although it took me a while to like him considering how truly awful he is to Aelin)。 I really love Manon and Abraxos, I'm excited to see more of both of them in the next books but I do hope that Manon's storyline will intersect with the main story and other character soon, because for now it feels like SJM could easily have told her story in a separate book/novella。Honestly, there was absolutely no reason for this book to be nearly 600 pages long, it should have been a lot closer to 350 considering the actual plot/content。 The last 150 pages saved the book in my opinion and I hope that the next books in the series will be more fast paced than this one。 I'll be continuing the series but I certainly need a short break from it for now。 。。。more

Actual Rating - 4。5I feel this was more a filler book for the series but I loved learning more about Aelin and her past。 It tied up a few loose ends from the previous books and really left the next book open for anything!

Wow wow wow wow wow。 I had a fantastic time during this。 And my heart feels like it's being torn apart thinking about that ending。But regardless, so much!! I can't believe I put off digging into this for so long。 I have a horrible and nasty habit of starting series and briefly getting distracted from them, then not picking up the next book for years! I started reading Throne of Glass I want to say about two years ago or so, but life just got in the way so much that I never completed the series。 Wow wow wow wow wow。 I had a fantastic time during this。 And my heart feels like it's being torn apart thinking about that ending。But regardless, so much!! I think that this was the best book in the series。 It was full of so much action and so many new characters。 I couldn’t stop reading it。 This was my favourite book out of all of them so far。 Mass’ writing is just incredible。 The backstories and the thoughts/feelings she describes are written so well。 Also I definitely have another favourite character。

。。。more

Sarah J。 Mass, once again, manages to enthrall me in her spectacular, high fantasy universe。 The plot line was a bit slower than I felt necessary, though。 Marvelous, nonetheless。 beautiful descriptions, amazingly written characters that impress me again and again。

By far my favorite book so far in this series。 I'm amazed that there have been four books (including Assassin's Blade) to develop the plot to this point。 It is so rich and multi-layered I can't even begin to grasp how I mentally know all the names and ties between every character--I just do。So STOKED on this book。 Rowan is the absolute BEST。 By far my favorite book so far in this series。 I'm amazed that there have been four books (including Assassin's Blade) to develop the plot to this point。 It is so rich and multi-layered I can't even begin to grasp how I mentally know all the names and ties between every character--I just do。So STOKED on this book。 Rowan is the absolute BEST。 。。。more

This book did the impossible。 It made me like Celaena。 I truly didn't think it was possible but here we are。 I loved the journey she went on。 I especially enjoyed reading about her training and the way she dealt with her trauma。 I felt like I wasn't reading about some insufferable Mary Sue anymore but an actual fleshed out character, flaws and all。 Rowan really brought the best and the worst in her which also made me like their relationship a lot。 He was a great new addition, along with Manon an This book did the impossible。 It made me like Celaena。 I truly didn't think it was possible but here we are。 I loved the journey she went on。 I especially enjoyed reading about her training and the way she dealt with her trauma。 I felt like I wasn't reading about some insufferable Mary Sue anymore but an actual fleshed out character, flaws and all。 Rowan really brought the best and the worst in her which also made me like their relationship a lot。 He was a great new addition, along with Manon and Aedion。 This series desperately needed more likable characters to allow less room for Chaol to be sucking up all the fun and this book delivered。Now, the reason I'm not giving Heir of Fire 5 stars is because:a) It was a filler book which I don't even really mind。 This story desperately needed to BREATHE which this book allows for。 We got introduced to much of the important lore and it was all sorts of fun but it, essentially, didn't move the story forward as much as it should have。b) Dorian was criminally underutilized in this but I have hope that ending will land him right into action in the next book。So, um, this is a super flawed series and it takes some time to get into it but I'm loving the direction it went in with this installment and I'm very excited to read the rest。 。。。more
